Medical Doctor and Anesthesiologist with an esteemed academic career at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC) and extensive professional experience with the UC Christus Health Network. He graduated from the University of Chile with a medical degree in 1996 and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at PUC from 2001 to 2004.
Since 2004, he has served as a full-time anesthesiologist in Santiago, Chile, working at UC Clinical Hospital, UC San Carlos Clinic, and San Joaquín Medical Center. Alongside his clinical practice, he has pursued a dynamic academic career in teaching and administration at PUC, where he is currently an Associate Professor and received the University’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2018.
In his administrative roles, he has held positions such as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education and Director of Community Engagement and Outreach at the PUC School of Medicine.
As a pioneer in implementing active learning methodologies and innovative evaluation systems for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, he has championed the use of Clinical Simulation in medical education as a certified Instructor from Harvard University. Additionally, he holds a Master’s in Medical Education from PUC, focusing his work on developing and applying direct observation criteria for procedural assessments.
His experience also includes teaching in undergraduate and graduate courses, as well as active participation in national and international conferences and courses in Medical Education and Anesthesiology.
